ROLE OVERVIEW
The Chief Instructor (Workshop) will bring practical experience in railway workshop operations to support the assessment of existing maintenance workshops and the planning of future integrated maintenance facilities in the Delhi region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess current workshop operations, infrastructure, and production capacity at Delhi-area coaching maintenance facilities
- Provide technical inputs for workshop design, layout recommendations, and equipment specifications for proposed integrated facilities
- Review workshop processes including fabrication, machining, welding, and finishing relevant to coaching stock maintenance
- Recommend skill development, training, and capacity building frameworks for workshop functions at new facilities
- Collaborate with depot planning and rolling stock experts to align workshop recommendations with overall facility design
- Support preparation of technical assessments and relevant sections of the final consultancy report
- Conduct field visits and document existing workshop conditions, constraints, and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering
- M.Tech preferred
- Minimum 3 years as Technical Supervisor at Level-7, or 4 years as supervisor at Level-6 in Open Line or Workshops/Production Units of Indian Railways
- Sound knowledge of railway workshop operations, manufacturing processes, and maintenance engineering
- Experience in preparing technical documentation and contributing to infrastructure planning studies
