Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. A master's degree is an advantage.
Experience: Usually 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, or Zoho Books.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, financial analysis).
Tax & Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with GST, TDS, income tax, payroll, statutory compliance, and financial reporting (especially for roles in India).
Certifications (Preferred): Professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) can be an advantage, depending on the role.

A senior accountant is generally expected to:
Prepare and review financial statements.
Manage month-end and year-end closing.
