About the Role
The Manager – Transportation will be responsible for the effective planning, coordination, administration and monitoring of all transportation services across the institution. The role involves managing the fleet of buses and vehicles, ensuring student and staff safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing transportation operations and supervising drivers and support staff.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the day-to-day transportation operations of the institution, including buses, cars and utility vehicles.
2. Plan and optimize transportation routes for students, faculty and staff to ensure efficiency and punctuality.
3. Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption and operational costs to improve efficiency.
4. Ensure timely maintenance, servicing, insurance renewal and fitness certification of all vehicles.
5. Supervise and evaluate drivers, conductors and transportation support staff.
6. Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, safety standards and institutional policies.
7. Coordinate transportation arrangements for academic events, guest visits, field trips and special programs.
8. Ensure timely renewal of vehicle registrations, permits, driving licences, insurance policies, fitness certificates and all statutory transportation documents.
9. Monitor and facilitate the timely payment of road taxes, permit fees, toll-related obligations and other statutory transportation charges in compliance with government regulations.
10. Introduce technology-driven solutions for fleet tracking, scheduling and transportation management.
11. Ensure safe, reliable and student-friendly transportation services across all Karunya campuses and facilities.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 6-12 years of experience in transportation, fleet management, logistics or institutional transport operations.
- Strong knowledge of transport regulations, fleet maintenance and safety standards.
- Experience in managing large vehicle fleets and transportation personnel.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems, GPS tracking and fleet monitoring tools.
- Ability to handle emergencies and make quick operational decisions.
- Experience in educational institutions, universities or large organizations will be preferred.
Pay: ₹30,753.19 - ₹80,647.31 per month
