Job Summary
The Melting Department Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of overhead/ladle cranes used for handling scrap, molten metal, ladles, molds, and other materials within the melting shop. The role ensures smooth material movement while strictly following safety and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate overhead, EOT, or ladle cranes to move scrap, molten metal, ladles, and finished products safely.
- Assist in charging furnaces with scrap and alloy materials as per production requirements.
- Coordinate with Melting Supervisor, furnace operators, and floor staff during lifting and pouring operations.
- Inspect crane equipment before and during operation to ensure safe working conditions.
- Report equipment defects, abnormalities, or safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of crane and operating area.
- Support emergency procedures during molten metal handling incidents.
- Ensure accurate positioning of materials to avoid damage and accidents.
Safety Responsibilities
- Strictly comply with PPE requirements and safety protocols.
- Maintain safe lifting limits and avoid overloading the crane.
- Use proper hand signals and communication methods with ground personnel.
- Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions are observed.
Qualifications & Skills
- ITI / Diploma preferred (or equivalent industrial experience).
- Valid crane operator license/certification (where applicable).
- 2–5 years of experience operating cranes in a melting or foundry environment preferred.
- Good understanding of crane controls, load handling, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in high-temperature, industrial environments.
- Strong attention to safety, coordination, and teamwork.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to high heat, dust, noise, and molten metal.
- Shift-based work, including night shifts and overtime as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹27,500.00 per month
