Job Summary
The Pharmacy Team Leader is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, maintaining inventory, leading the pharmacy team, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, NABH standards, and hospital policies. The role focuses on delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services while promoting patient safety and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesPharmacy Operations
- Supervise daily pharmacy operations, including inpatient (IPD), outpatient (OPD), emergency, and ICU pharmacy services.
- Ensure accurate dispensing of medications as per valid prescriptions.
- Verify prescriptions for dosage, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications before dispensing.
- Ensure timely availability of medicines and consumables across all hospital departments.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication requirements.
- Monitor compliance with hospital formulary and medication management policies.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, guide, and support pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
- Prepare staff duty rosters and ensure adequate manpower coverage.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and training.
- Conduct departmental orientation and competency assessments for new employees.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and adherence to departmental SOPs.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure uninterrupted medicine availability.
- Verify inward and outward stock transactions.
- Ensure FEFO/FIFO principles are followed.
- Monitor expiry dates and coordinate timely removal or return of near-expiry medicines.
- Conduct periodic stock verification and reconciliation.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department for procurement and vendor follow-up.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, Pharmacy Act, Drugs & Cosmetics Act, and hospital policies.
- Maintain narcotic and controlled drug registers as per statutory requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, NABH audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of pharmacy records.
- Implement medication safety initiatives and report medication errors or adverse drug events.
Patient Care & Counseling
- Provide medication counseling to patients and caregivers when required.
- Educate patients regarding dosage, administration, storage, and possible side effects.
- Promote rational use of medicines and patient safety.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily pharmacy reports, stock reports, and controlled drug registers.
- Prepare monthly consumption and inventory reports.
- Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Report incidents, stock discrepancies, and operational issues to the Pharmacy Manager.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) from a recognized institution.
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration is mandatory.
Experience
- 3–5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited multi-specialty hospital is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as per hospital requirements.

- Exposure to medicines and pharmaceutical products while following all safety and infection control protocols.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
