Job Summary
SPD CONSTRUCTIONS LIMITED is looking for an experienced QA/QC Manager – Civil to lead and manage the overall Quality Assurance and Quality Control function for high-rise building construction projects.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in high-rise residential/commercial building construction, quality management systems, inspections, testing, audits, quality documentation, NCR/CAR management, and coordination with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and third-party agencies.
The candidate will be responsible for establishing and implementing project quality systems, leading the QA/QC team, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, QCPs, project requirements and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the overall QA/QC function for high-rise building construction projects.
- Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve the Project Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, QCPs, codes, standards, and project quality requirements.
- Prepare, review, and approve project quality documentation including Project Quality Plans, Quality Control Procedures, Inspection & Test Plans, Method Statements, checklists, and inspection formats.
- Establish quality objectives, procedures, inspection systems, and quality control processes for different stages of construction.
- Lead and supervise the QA/QC team, including QA/QC Engineers, QC Engineers, Inspectors, and testing personnel.
- Allocate responsibilities, monitor team performance, and provide technical guidance and training to the QA/QC team.
- Monitor the quality of major civil and structural works including RCC, reinforcement, formwork, concreting, waterproofing, masonry, plastering, façade, finishing, and other building works.
- Ensure proper inspection and testing of construction materials, concrete, reinforcement steel, aggregates, blocks, waterproofing materials, finishing materials, and other project materials.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Site Engineers, Consultants, Architects, Client Representatives, Testing Laboratories, Vendors, and Subcontractors on quality-related matters.
- Review and monitor Inspection Requests (IR), Material Inspection Requests (MIR), test reports, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Ensure timely identification, documentation, and closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and quality observations.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ensure effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) are implemented and verified.
- Conduct and lead internal quality audits, process audits, subcontractor audits, and site quality inspections.
- Review audit findings and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor project quality performance through KPIs, quality statistics, inspection status, NCR trends, rework analysis, and quality reports.
- Identify recurring quality issues and implement preventive measures to minimize defects, rework, wastage, and construction delays.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality control procedures at all project stages, from material procurement through construction and final handover.
- Evaluate and monitor the quality performance and capabilities of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with project quality requirements, approved method statements, ITPs, and inspection procedures.
- Review and verify quality documentation submitted by subcontractors and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements related to inspection, testing, documentation, and quality records.
- Maintain and control project quality documentation including drawings, specifications, test reports, inspection reports, material approvals, vendor documents, NCRs, audit reports, and as-built records.
- Ensure complete and timely preparation of handover and project close-out quality documentation.
- Identify potential quality risks and advise Project Management on appropriate mitigation and preventive measures.
- Provide regular QA/QC reports, quality dashboards, KPI reports, NCR status, audit findings, and quality performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure effective coordination with client/consultant representatives during inspections, audits, testing, and project handover.
- Provide technical advice to the Project Manager and senior management on significant quality issues and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IS Codes, project specifications, contractual requirements, and relevant ISO standards.
- Promote a strong quality culture and "Right First Time" approach across the project team.
High-Rise Construction Experience Required
Candidates should have strong experience in quality management for high-rise building construction projects, preferably involving:
- RCC framed structures and high-rise residential/commercial buildings
- Deep foundations, piling and foundation works
- Reinforcement and structural concrete works
- Formwork and concrete technology
- Waterproofing and water-retaining structures
- Masonry and plastering
- Façade and external works
- Flooring, tiling and other finishing works
- MEP coordination and associated civil works
- Snagging, defect rectification and final handover
- Testing, inspection and quality documentation
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of QA/QC systems and construction quality management.
- Strong understanding of QMS, ISO standards, ITP, QCP, Method Statements, NCR, CAR, RCA and CAPA.
- Knowledge of relevant IS Codes, technical specifications, and construction standards.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction materials, testing, inspection, and quality procedures.
- Experience in quality audits and quality management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and manage a large QA/QC team.
- Ability to work under project deadlines and effectively manage multiple quality-related priorities.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
