Job Description – Firmware/Embedded Team Lead

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Firmware Lead with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems and RTOS-based development to manage day-to-day technical operations, drive firmware design initiatives, and lead a technical team of 6 to 10 engineers. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, an entrepreneurial mindset, exposure to AI-assisted development tools, and proven people-management and documentation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily tasks and routine departmental activities to ensure smooth operations
- Lead firmware design and development for embedded products using microcontrollers and RTOS-based architectures
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate firmware development, debugging, and code optimization
- Maintain accurate tracking and records of ongoing projects, ensuring visibility on status, timelines, and deliverables
- Allocate and assign work to team members based on project requirements and individual skill sets
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of process initiation, execution, and work completion cycles
- Drive proactive contributions to product development, identifying improvements and innovations
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed for components, tools, and project requirements
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and reports (technical writing)
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and stakeholders
- Manage, mentor, and guide a technical team of 15–18 members, ensuring productivity and skill development
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and project milestones
- Understand and engage with the complete ecosystem of product development — from ideation and design to manufacturing, deployment, and post-launch support
- Apply an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving, resource optimization, and decision-making across projects
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (mandatory)
- 3–5 years of experience in firmware/embedded systems design and development
- Strong working knowledge of RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems)
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with AI-based tools/assistants for firmware development and productivity
- Solid embedded systems knowledge (communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN; peripherals, debugging tools)
- Experience coordinating with vendors/suppliers for components, tools, or third-party services
- Strong project tracking and organizational skills
- Experience managing or leading a mid-to-large sized technical team (15+ members)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong technical writing/documentation capability
- Proactive, self-driven approach to product development
- Sound understanding of end-to-end process workflows (initiation to closure)
- Good leadership, delegation, and team coordination abilities
