We are looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to drive end-to-end instrumentation and control system engineering for complex industrial projects. The role will be responsible for leading design, execution, and commissioning of control systems, with a strong emphasis on Burner Management Systems (BMS), safety interlocks, and fired equipment applications.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with team leadership, project coordination, and client interfacing capabilities.
**Ideal candidate experience should be in reviewing key engineering deliverables and overseeing instrument sizing and selection.**
- Lead the design and development of instrumentation and control systems for oil & gas and fired equipment projects
- Review and approve key engineering deliverables:
- Instrument datasheets
- Hook-up drawings
- Junction Box (JB) drawings
- Cable schedules and layouts
- Instrument MTOs
- Oversee instrument sizing and selection, including:
- Control valves
- On-off valves
- Flow elements and flow measurement systems
- Ensure high-quality development of:
- P&IDs
- Cause & effect matrices
- Control philosophies and narratives
- Lead the design, validation, and troubleshooting of Burner Management Systems (BMS)
- Develop and review Boolean logic diagrams, interlocks, and safety shutdown systems
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards (NFPA, IEC, ISA, API)
- Drive implementation of SIL-based safety systems (preferred)
- Act as the discipline lead for instrumentation across multiple projects
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and project teams for integrated system delivery
- Interface with clients, consultants, and vendors for technical clarifications and approvals
- Monitor engineering progress, quality, and timelines
- Oversee PLC system integration, including:
- I/O list development
- Logic validation
- Functional testing
- Lead and support:
- FAT (Factory Acceptance Test)
- SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
- Site commissioning and startup
- Lead and mentor a team of instrumentation engineers and designers
- Establish engineering best practices, templates, and standardization
- Review team deliverables and ensure adherence to quality standards
- Deep expertise in:
- Control valves, on-off valves, and flow measurement instruments
- Instrumentation design and engineering practices
- Burner Management Systems (BMS) and combustion control systems (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Boolean logic development and interpretation
- Cause & effect diagrams and interlock philosophies
- Proficiency in engineering tools such as:
- AutoCAD
- SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) or equivalent
- Strong understanding of:
- Hazardous area classification
- SIL (Safety Integrity Level) concepts
- International codes and standards (IEC, ISA, NFPA, API)
- Oil & Gas (Downstream)
- Fired Equipment (Heaters, Flares, Thermal Oxidizers, Incinerators)
- EPC / Heavy Engineering Projects
- Combustion systems and process heating solutions
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical Engineering
- Master’s Degree (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong leadership and decision-making capability
- Excellent stakeholder and client management skills
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Exposure to global project execution and international clients
