Position: Finishing Engineer

Job Summary:
The Finishing Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and executing all finishing works at the project site, ensuring quality, safety, timely completion, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications. Typical finishing responsibilities include plastering, gypsum, flooring, tiling, painting, waterproofing, false ceiling, doors/windows, and other architectural works.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise internal and external finishing works as per approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Execute and monitor:
- Blockwork and plastering
- Gypsum plaster and gypsum board works
- Flooring, tiling, granite and marble works
- Putty and painting works
- False ceiling works
- Waterproofing works
- Doors, windows and carpentry works
- Handrails and other architectural finishes
- Check levels, alignment, dimensions, slopes, thickness and surface quality of finishing works.
- Coordinate with Structural, MEP, Electrical, HVAC, QA/QC and other site teams to ensure proper work sequence and avoid rework.
- Coordinate with subcontractors regarding manpower, materials, work fronts and daily targets.
- Prepare and monitor daily/weekly finishing schedules and track progress against the project programme.
- Ensure required materials are available at site and are approved before use.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and coordinate with the QA/QC team for WIR/inspection approvals.
- Identify defects and ensure timely closure of snags and punch points.
- Coordinate with the client/consultant during inspections and ensure observations are closed within the agreed timeline.
- Maintain DPR, inspection records, checklists and progress reports.
- Monitor productivity and take corrective action for delays or resource shortages.
- Ensure all finishing activities comply with site safety requirements and PPE standards.
- Support project handover by ensuring completion of finishing works and closure of all pending works.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of architectural and finishing works.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Good knowledge of finishing materials, construction methods and quality standards.
- Strong subcontractor and manpower management skills.
- Good planning, coordination and problem-solving ability.
- Good communication and site-management skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office / AutoCAD will be an advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech – Civil Engineering with 5–10 years of relevant finishing experience, preferably in large-scale building, commercial, institutional, industrial or residential projects. Current Chennai postings commonly seek Diploma/B.E./B.Tech Civil candidates with several years of finishing experience and strong knowledge of plastering, gypsum, flooring, tiling and architectural finishes.
