Job Title: Quality Inspector
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to join our sheet metal fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all fabricated components meet specified quality standards, engineering drawings, and customer requirements. The role involves inspection at various stages of production, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process, first-piece, and final inspections of sheet metal fabricated components.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Inspect fabrication processes including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly for quality compliance.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and work instructions.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformities and coordinate with production for corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to ISO quality standards and internal quality procedures.
- Maintain inspection records, quality reports, and documentation accurately.
- Support root cause analysis and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure proper calibration and handling of measuring instruments.
- Conduct stage-wise inspection to minimize rework and rejection rates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Diploma / ITI / Engineering in Mechanical or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication quality inspection.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes (cutting, bending, welding, finishing).
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand GD&T.
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments and inspection tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in fabrication or manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of welding inspection and surface treatment standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to quality improvement.
Work Environment:
- Shop floor-based role in a manufacturing/fabrication unit.
- May require standing for long hours and periodic movement across production areas.
