Daily Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and organized environment for students and staff.
Systems Administration: Manage the integrated library system (ILS) for circulation, cataloging, and inventory management (e.g., Follett Destiny, Oliver, or similar software).
Budgeting & Procurement: Prepare and manage the library budget; research, select, and purchase books, periodicals, and digital subscriptions from local and international vendors.
Supervision: Direct and supervise library assistants, volunteers, or student aides.
2. Instruction & Curriculum Support
Information Literacy: Design and teach lessons on research skills, media literacy, digital citizenship, and academic integrity.
Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with teachers across departments to align library resources with school curricula (e.g., International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Common Core, or local standards).
Research Guidance: Provide dedicated research support, source citation guidance, and advanced database navigation for older students (e.g., Extended Essay or Capstone projects).
3. Collection Development & Curation
Resource Selection: Evaluate, select, and acquire diverse physical and digital resources that reflect a wide range of perspectives, cultures, and reading levels.
Cataloging: Classify and catalog all incoming materials using standard systems (Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress).
Digital Curation: Maintain and update the school’s digital library, managing access to e-books, audiobooks, and academic databases (e.g., JSTOR, EBSCO, Epic!, Sora).
4. Literacy Promotion & Community Engagement
Reading Culture: Organize reading programs, book fairs, author visits, and literacy weeks to encourage a vibrant reading culture.
Advocacy: Promote library resources and services through newsletters, displays, social media, and school presentations.
