- Track open Purchase Orders (POs) from the moment of release until final delivery.
- Follow up on formal order acknowledgments and estimated shipping dates.
- Expedite delayed components or raw materials to match factory production schedules.
- Call or email suppliers daily or weekly to check production milestones.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Sync with internal production, planning, and design teams to understand shifting material priorities.
- Inform factory supervisors early if a critical part faces a transit or manufacturing delay.
- Coordinate with the warehouse/stores and quality control teams for incoming material inspection.
- Resolve immediate documentation or specification mismatches between the vendor and the plant.
Supplier Performance and Field Visits
- Visit vendor manufacturing plants or machine shops when critical parts face heavy delays.
- Monitor outside-processed or subcontracted jobs to guarantee adherence to project deadlines.
- Log vendor delivery metrics like On-Time Delivery (OTD) rates.
- Report chronic supplier bottlenecks upward to the procurement or supply chain manager.
