Position Overview
The Junior Accountant will be the backbone of Glimmer's day-to-day transactional finance operations. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role is responsible for ensuring that the steady volume of vendor invoices, employee expenses, customer payments, and bank entries are recorded accurately, completely, and without delay. This is a high-accountability role in a lean, fast-moving team, where precision in the details directly enables the entire finance function to operate effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Processing
–Handle data entry for vendor invoices, ensuring accurate coding to the correct cost centre, account, and period.
–Process employee expense claims in line with company policy and ensure proper approvals are in place.
–Coordinate with the Senior Accountant to ensure vendor payments are disbursed on time.
–Maintain an organised vendor payment tracker and flag overdue or pending items proactively.
Accounts Receivable Support
–Assist in the preparation and issuance of customer invoices as directed by the Senior Accountant.
–Support accounts receivable follow-ups, including tracking outstanding payments and maintaining AR records.
–Ensure all customer receipts are recorded accurately and matched to the correct invoices.
Bank Reconciliation & Record-Keeping
–Perform daily bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are matched and discrepancies are flagged promptly.
–Maintain accurate and well-organised accounting records, files, and supporting documentation.
–Assist with general ledger entries and support the month-end close process as directed.
Compliance Support
–Support the Senior Accountant in the preparation of data required for GST and TDS filings.
–Assist with documentation and record compilation for statutory audits and internal reviews.
–Ensure all financial documents are stored systematically and are audit-ready at all times.
General Finance Support
–Assist with any ad hoc accounting and finance tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Finance Controller.
–Proactively flag any errors, duplicates, or inconsistencies observed in transaction processing.
–Contribute to continuous improvement of transactional processes and filing systems.
Required Qualifications
Education
–M.Com or equivalent post-graduate qualification in Commerce or Accounting, mandatory.
–B.Com with strong academic record also considered.
Experience Requirements
–1-2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance operations role.
–Freshers with strong academic credentials and relevant internship experience will be considered.
–Familiarity with accounting software (Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar) is preferred.
Technical Competencies
–Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and the double-entry system.
–Proficiency in Excel for data entry, reconciliation, and basic reporting.
–Familiarity with GST and TDS concepts is an advantage.
–Accuracy and speed in data entry with a strong eye for detail.
