JOB DESCRIPTION
Industrial Safety Officer – Interior Projects
Position Title: Project Safety Officer – Interior Design & Fit-Out Package
Department: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
Reporting To: Project Head & Director
Location: On-site (Data Center Project)
Experience: 3 – 5 Years of experience as a Safety Officer on commercial fit-out, high-tech interior, semiconductor, cleanroom, or Data Center construction projects.
Position Overview
The Safety Officer (Interior Design & Fit-Out) is responsible for driving, managing, and enforcing safety protocols during the architectural, interior, and technical fit-out phase of a Data Center construction project. This role ensures that all high-risk interior works—including raised access flooring installation, hot works, containment systems, modular ceiling/partition wall erection, heavy MEP equipment placement, and electrical commissioning prep—comply strictly with local EHS regulations, client-specific standards, and international data center guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Site Oversight & Daily Operations
- Monitor daily fit-out activities across critical whitespace, technical rooms, and support areas to ensure strict adherence to project EHS standards.
- Conduct daily site safety walk-throughs, pre-start briefing checks, and toolbox talks with interior fit-out contractors and subcontractors.
- Manage access control into sensitive data hall areas to maintain dust, hazard, and safety separation boundaries.
Risk Assessment & Method Statements (RAMS)
- Review and approve contractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) specifically tailored for interior works (e.g., cutting/drilling partition walls, hot works on ceiling grids, raised floor loading).
- Implement and manage the Permit to Work (PTW) system, including Hot Work Permits, Working at Heights Permits, and Energized Electrical Space Entry Permits.
High-Risk Activity Management
- Work at Heights: Enforce safe use of mobile scaffolding, MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), and ladders during ceiling, ducting, and lighting installations.
- Electrical & Hot Work: Monitor hot works (welding, grinding, pipe sweating) and ensure proper fire watch protocols are strictly observed near acoustic paneling, raised floor tiles, and cabling insulation.
- Floor Loading & Rigging: Verify load distribution and safe lifting practices when moving heavy interior fixtures, server racks, and UPS/cooling unit components across raised flooring.
- Hazardous Substances & Dust Control: Monitor VOC levels, paint application safety, adhesives, and silica dust control measures during dry-walling and surface finishing.
Incidents & Compliance Reporting
- Investigate all near-misses, incidents, and accidents promptly; produce comprehensive root-cause analysis (RCA) reports and action plans.
- Prepare weekly and monthly EHS compliance reports, tracking leading and trailing safety indicators for the interior package.
- Organize and conduct site safety inductions tailored to interior contractors and suppliers entering the whitespace.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications (Must Have): NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (or equivalent local statutory safety license).
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience as a Safety Officer on commercial fit-out, high-tech interior, semiconductor, cleanroom, or Data Center construction projects.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of high-density interior fit-out risks, temporary life-safety systems, dust containment protocols, and working in live or pre-commissioned technical spaces.
- Skills: Excellent communication, conflict resolution, permits auditing, and incident investigation skills.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Benefits:
- Leave encashment
- Paid time off
