An academic counselor guides students through their educational journeys, helping them define career goals, overcome learning obstacles, and select appropriate courses. They serve as mentors and administrators, working across schools, universities, and ed-tech platforms to ensure student success.
Core Responsibilities
- Academic Planning: Help students design educational roadmaps, select courses, and navigate graduation requirements.
- Career & College Advising: Assist with university applications, entrance exams, career exploration, and vocational planning.
- Student Mentorship: Evaluate student performance, address behavioral or learning issues, and develop personalized study plans.
- Crisis & Support Intervention: Act as a safe sounding board for students experiencing emotional, social, or academic pressure.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Communicate with parents, teachers, and school administrators regarding student progress.
Key Skills Needed
- Active Listening & Empathy: Ability to understand student concerns in a non-judgmental manner.
- Communication: Clear, persuasive, and professional communication with both students and parents.
- Problem-Solving: De-escalate academic anxiety and tailor creative solutions for struggling students.
- Educational Knowledge: Deep understanding of curricula, grading systems, and university admission processes.
Pay: Up to ₹1,000,000.00 per year
