Job overview:
To support implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Environment, Health, Safety & Quality (EHS/QHSE) systems across water, wastewater, utility, and industrial treatment facilities. The role shall be responsible for site safety surveillance, statutory compliance, PTW management, incident prevention, contractor safety management, ISO system implementation, safety reporting, audit support, and EHS documentation management. The position shall actively contribute toward achieving Zero Harm, Zero LTI, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
Responsibilities:
Site Safety Monitoring & Compliance
Conduct daily plant safety inspections, monitor compliance with: PPE requirements, Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO procedures, Confined space requirements, Working at height procedures, Electrical safety requirements
Identify: Unsafe acts, Unsafe conditions, near misses, Potential hazards, ensure immediate corrective actions, maintain safety observation records.
Permit to Work (PTW) Administration
Coordinate and monitor: Hot Work Permits, Cold Work Permits, Height Work Permits, Excavation Permits, Electrical Isolation Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Vessel Entry Permits, Lifting Activity Permits
Verify: Risk assessment completion, Isolation verification, Gas testing records, PPE compliance, Emergency arrangements
ISO Management System Support
Assist in implementation and maintenance of: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
Support: Internal audits, External audits, Client audits, Surveillance audits
Maintain: Audit records, Compliance registers, CAPA tracker
Track closure of: Non-conformities (NC), Observations, Corrective actions, Preventive actions
HIRA, JSA & Risk Assessment
Participate in: Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Environmental Aspect & Impact Assessment, Method Statement Review
Assess risks related to: Chemical handling, Rotating equipment, Electrical systems, Confined spaces, Hot work, High-pressure RO systems, Steam systems, ZLD operations
Contractor Safety Management
Conduct: Contractor safety induction, Safety orientation programs
Verify: Workmen competency certificates, Operator licenses, Rigging certifications, Scaffolding certifications
Monitor: Contractor compliance, PTW compliance, PPE compliance, Maintain contractor safety records.
Chemical Safety Management
Monitor safe handling and storage of: Sulfuric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Caustic Soda, Sodium Hypochlorite, Ferric Chloride, PAC, Alum, Antiscalants, Membrane cleaning chemicals.
Ensure: MSDS availability, Secondary containment, Chemical labelling, Spill kit readiness, Emergency showers, Eye wash stations
Process Plant Specific Safety Monitoring
ETP / STP - Open tank protection, Aeration tank safety, Sludge handling safety, Chemical dosing safety
RO / UF Systems - High-pressure piping safety, CIP system safety, Chemical transfer safety
ZLD Systems - MEE safety, ATFD safety, Steam line safety, Hot surface monitoring
UPW Systems - EDI electrical safety, Chemical regeneration safety, Utility room monitoring
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Coordinate: Fire drills, Mock evacuation drills, Chemical spill drills, Emergency response exercises
Verify: Fire extinguishers, Fire hydrants, Emergency exits, Assembly points, First aid facilities, Maintain emergency drill records.
Incident Investigation & CAPA Management
Investigate: Near misses, First aid cases, Unsafe acts, Unsafe conditions, Environmental incidents, Property damage incidents
Participate in: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Action Plans, Preventive Action Plans, Track closure effectiveness.
QHSE Reporting & Analytics
Prepare and maintain: Daily safety reports, Weekly safety reports, Monthly EHS dashboards, Incident statistics, near miss trends, Training matrix, Compliance matrix & monitor EHS KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
SOP, Manual & Documentation Management
Preparation and revision of: SOPs, Work Instructions, Emergency Response Procedures, Safety Manuals, Risk Registers, PTW Procedures and maintain document control system and revision records.
Safety Communication & Awareness
Develop and coordinate: Toolbox talks, Safety campaigns, Safety alerts,Lessons learned case studies, Safety posters
Support preparation of visual EHS communication materials using: MS PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe tools (preferred)
Environmental Compliance Support
Support compliance with: CPCB Guidelines, SPCB Requirements, Hazardous Waste Rules, Battery Waste Management Rules, Plastic Waste Rules, Factory Act Requirements
Monitor: Waste segregation, Sludge disposal records, Hazardous waste storage, Used oil management
Requirements :
Essential - Diploma in: Safety Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
Preferred - Diploma in Industrial Safety / ADIS / NEBOSH IGC / IOSH Managing Safely
Safety Engineer experience : 0–3 Years
Preferred Exposure - Water & Wastewater Treatment, Utility Operations, Chemical Plants, Pharmaceutical Plants, Semiconductor Facilities, EPC & O&M Projects.
