Job Purpose
The Quality Manager will be responsible for maintaining and improving the overall quality of school uniforms and garments across fabric, cutting, stitching, finishing, packing, and final dispatch. The role will ensure that products meet approved samples, measurements, specifications, and company quality standards while minimizing rejection, rework, alteration, and customer complaints.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control – Production
- Monitor quality at every stage: Fabric → Cutting → Stitching → Finishing → Packing → Dispatch.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved samples, specifications, and size charts.
- Conduct regular inspections during production and final inspection before dispatch.
- Identify defects and take immediate corrective action.
- Reduce rejection, rework, alteration, and wastage.
2. Fabric & Raw Material Quality
- Inspect incoming fabric, trims, accessories, labels, buttons, zippers, etc.
- Check fabric for shade variation, GSM, width, shrinkage, weaving defects, stains, holes, and other issues.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Production teams for quality-related issues.
- Ensure defective material is properly identified and segregated.
3. Cutting Quality
- Check markers, patterns, measurements, and fabric spreading.
- Ensure correct size-wise cutting as per approved specifications.
- Monitor cutting accuracy and minimize fabric wastage.
- Verify cut panels before sending them to stitching.
4. Stitching Quality
- Establish quality checkpoints at stitching lines.
- Monitor stitching defects such as:
- Uneven stitching
- Open seams
- Broken stitches
- Loose threads
- Incorrect attachments
- Wrong labels/buttons
- Measurement deviations
- Stitching alignment issues
- Conduct inline and end-line inspections.
5. Finishing & Final Inspection
- Ensure proper ironing, thread trimming, folding, tagging, and packing.
- Verify measurements against approved size charts.
- Ensure correct school-wise, article-wise, and size-wise packing.
- Conduct final AQL/quality inspection before dispatch.
- Approve or reject finished goods based on defined quality standards.
6. Sample & Specification Control
- Maintain approved samples, measurement charts, tech packs, and quality standards.
- Ensure production teams follow the latest approved sample.
- Conduct pre-production quality meetings for new styles/articles.
- Communicate changes in specifications to relevant departments.
7. Quality Reporting
Prepare and submit regular reports covering:
- Daily quality inspection report
- Inline inspection report
- Final inspection report
- Rejection and rework report
- Alteration report
- Defect-wise analysis
- Production quality status
- Contractor-wise quality performance
- Customer complaint analysis
- Corrective & preventive action (CAPA) report
8. Team Management
- Lead and train Quality Inspectors/QC staff.
- Allocate quality inspectors according to production requirements.
- Conduct regular training on garment defects and quality standards.
- Set individual KPIs for the quality team.
- Monitor team performance and discipline.
9. Contractor / Job Work Quality
- Monitor quality of garments produced by external contractors.
- Conduct contractor-wise inspections.
- Maintain quality scorecards for contractors.
- Ensure rejected/rework garments are corrected before acceptance.
- Coordinate with Production/SCM for quality-related contractor issues.
10. Customer Complaint & Root Cause Analysis
- Investigate customer/school complaints related to garment quality.
- Identify root causes using 5 Why / Fishbone / RCA methods.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track repeat defects and ensure permanent resolution.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
