Job Summary
Responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to inspect precision machined components and ensure dimensional and geometric accuracy as per engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CMM machines for accurate dimensional inspection of components.
- Set up and align components, fixtures, and probes correctly before inspection.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, final, and layout inspections.
- Run existing CMM inspection programs and make necessary adjustments.
- Create or modify CMM programs as required.
- Use CMM software such as ZEISS CALYPSO,
- Measure critical dimensions, profiles, position, concentricity, flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and other geometric characteristics.
- Verify components against customer specifications and inspection standards.
- Prepare CMM inspection reports and maintain measurement records.
- Identify dimensional deviations and non-conforming components and report them to the Quality/Production team.
- Use conventional measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Gauge, and other precision gauges.
- Perform probe qualification and routine CMM checks as per company procedures.
- Ensure measuring instruments and CMM equipment are properly maintained and within calibration.
- Support Quality and Production teams in resolving dimensional and process-related issues.
- Maintain inspection documents, rejection reports, and quality records.
- Follow company 5S, safety, quality procedures, and work instructions.
- Support internal/customer audits and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualification
ITI / Diploma / B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- 2-3 years of experience in CMM operation preferred.
- Experience with CNC/VMC/HMC machined components is an advantage.
