TGT – Social Science
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibility of the Social Science Teacher would include, but are not limited to –
Academic Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in History, Geography, Civics, Economics, and other Social Science disciplines in accordance with the CBSE curriculum.
- Develop students' understanding of historical events, geographical concepts, democratic values, economic principles, and global citizenship.
- Prepare students for school examinations, board assessments, quizzes, Olympiads, and other academic competitions.
- Incorporate project-based learning, debates, discussions, field activities, and experiential learning to enhance critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Encourage students to connect classroom learning with current affairs, social issues, environmental concerns, and global perspectives.
- Assess students' academic progress through formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a disciplined, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment.
- Collaborate with faculty members in organizing exhibitions, Model United Nations (MUNs), heritage walks, social science fairs, and interdisciplinary projects.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with school policies, child protection, and safeguarding regulations.
- Maintain accurate academic records, lesson plans, assessments, and student progress reports.
- Continuously engage in professional development to stay updated with pedagogical practices, curriculum changes, and educational technology.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, school events, and departmental initiatives.
Community Engagement Responsibilities:
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, inclusivity, responsible citizenship, and ethical values.
- Identify and support students with diverse learning needs in collaboration with the SEN team where required.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development.
- Monitor student attendance, behaviour, and well-being, identifying concerns proactively.
- Encourage awareness of civic responsibilities, cultural diversity, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, subject coordinators, and academic leadership to enhance learning outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic performance, and behavioural development.
- Participate in school assemblies, educational excursions, cultural programmes, community outreach initiatives, and extracurricular activities that contribute to holistic student development.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Master's Degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Social Science, or a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- CTET qualified will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience as a TGT Social Science Teacher in a CBSE/ICSE/IB or reputed school.
- Strong command over Social Science concepts and contemporary global issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, classroom management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and active student participation.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
