Civil Engineer – Pumped Storage Projects (Design)
Department: Engineering (PSP Vertical)
Reports To: Project Manager / Head – Civil Engineering /Business Head
Location: Corporate Office / Project Site
Job Purpose
To design, plan, and oversee execution of civil infrastructure for PSPs — dams/dykes, reservoirs, water conductor systems, powerhouse (surface/underground), and allied structures — ensuring technical soundness, safety, and adherence to schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities

Support/lead preparation of Pre-Feasibility Reports (PFR) and Detailed Project Reports (DPR) covering layout, dam/dyke design, tunnels, penstocks, surge shafts, and powerhouse structures.

Carry out hydraulic design of waterways, reservoir capacity computations, and dam break/flood routing analysis.

Coordinate structural design of dams, spillways, intake/outlet structures, and underground works with design consultants.

Review and validate designs against IS codes, CEA/CWC guidelines, and Dam Safety Act requirements.

Plan construction methodology for large earthwork, concrete, tunnelling (D&B/TBM), and underground cavern excavation.

Prepare BOQs, cost estimates, and technical specifications for tendering of civil works packages.

Monitor on-site execution — quality control, safety compliance, progress tracking against project schedule (Primavera/MS Project).

Coordinate with geotechnical, electro-mechanical, and environmental teams for integrated project delivery.

Liaise with statutory authorities (CWC, CEA, State Dam Safety Organizations) for design approvals.

Manage contractor and consultant interfaces, including review of contractor drawings and method statements.
Work Experience
Qualifications

B.Tech/B.E. in Civil Engineering (M.Tech in Water Resources / Structural / Geotechnical Engineering preferred for senior roles).
Experience
-
5–15 years in civil design/execution of hydropower, dams, tunnels, or PSP projects.

Demonstrated experience in at least one large dam, tunnel, or underground powerhouse project.
