POSITION SUMMARY:
The Performance / Load Testing Domain Lead provides leadership for the performance testing capability within the SQA organization, supporting enterprise applications through performance, load, stress, and scalability testing. This role defines and maintains performance testing practices, standards, and execution approaches to ensure systems meet expected levels of responsiveness, stability, and reliability.
The Domain Lead serves as a hands?on technical leader, guiding a small team of performance testing specialists while remaining directly involved in complex or high?risk initiatives. The role mentors team members, reviews work products, and establishes best practices for workload design, test execution, results analysis, and performance risk reporting.
Working closely with application development teams, architecture, infrastructure/cloud partners, and internal performance engineering resources, the Domain Lead helps identify and address performance risks early in the delivery lifecycle. The role supports a diverse application portfolio, including modern cloud?native and AI?driven solutions, applying data?driven and intelligent techniques to improve testing efficiency, insight, and consistency.
Success in this role is demonstrated by improved performance readiness, reduced performance?related production issues, consistent application of performance testing standards, and the ongoing development of a skilled and effective performance testing team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the SQA performance testing discipline across the enterprise, covering performance, load, stress, scalability, and stability testing.

Define and maintain standardized performance testing practices, workload modeling approaches, and execution guidelines used across supported application teams.

Serve as a hands?on technical leader for complex or high?risk initiatives, providing direct contribution and guidance in test design, execution strategy, and results interpretation.

Mentor and coach a small team of performance testing specialists, reviewing work products and building team capability through lead?by?example practices.

Partner with application development teams to identify performance risks early and ensure performance considerations are addressed throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure/cloud, and internal performance engineering resources to align testing with system design, capacity assumptions, and deployment models.

Analyze performance test results to identify bottlenecks and systemic constraints, and drive remediation and verification activities with stakeholders.

Define, track, and communicate performance metrics, readiness indicators, and risks, and continuously improve performance testing approaches using data?driven and intelligent techniques.

Experience and Skills:

Deep knowledge of test data management concepts, including data sourcing, masking/anonymization, synthetic data generation, subsetting, refresh strategies, and lifecycle governance.

Strong understanding of test environment planning, readiness criteria, access models, and dependency management across multiple SDLC phases.

Broad knowledge of software quality assurance practices spanning functional, integration, end?to?end, automation, performance, security, and accessibility testing.

Working knowledge of cloud and hybrid application environments and their impact on test data provisioning and environment stability.

Understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory considerations as they apply to test data and non?production environments.

Ability to apply AI?enabled approaches to improve test data generation, readiness validation, risk detection, and execution efficiency.

Experience integrating test data and environment readiness checks into CI/CD pipelines and automated quality workflows.

Strong analytical skills to identify systemic risks, trends, and execution blockers related to data or environment constraints.

Proven ability to define standards, frameworks, and playbooks and drive adoption across distributed SQA teams.

Effective cross?functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence engineering, platform, security, and data stakeholders without direct authority.

Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting standards, readiness criteria, and risk assessments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in performance testing and performance engineering roles.
- Demonstrated hands?on experience conducting performance, load, stress, and scalability testing for enterprise applications.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring a small team of technical specialists through direct contribution and coaching.
- Experience supporting multiple application teams across complex, distributed environments.
- Strong collaboration experience with application development, architecture, infrastructure/cloud, and performance engineering stakeholders.
- Experience working in modern cloud?based and integration?heavy application ecosystems.
- Experience applying data?driven and intelligent techniques to improve performance test design, execution efficiency, and results analysis.

The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
