Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all food manufacturing activities to ensure production targets, quality standards, food safety requirements, and operational efficiency are achieved. The role involves managing production teams, optimizing resources, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Operations
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and sales requirements.
- Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality and food safety standards.
- Monitor production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sales departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.
Food Safety & Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), HACCP, GMP, GHP, FSSAI, and ISO 22000 standards.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and implement corrective actions when required.
- Ensure proper hygiene and sanitation practices throughout the production facility.
- Address customer complaints and quality issues by implementing corrective and preventive actions
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, supervise, and develop production supervisors, operators, and support staff.
- Conduct training programs on food safety, hygiene, quality standards, and production processes.
- Monitor employee performance and productivity.
- Ensure discipline and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure machinery operates efficiently.
- Minimize production downtime through preventive maintenance planning.
- Ensure equipment is maintained according to food safety and operational requirements.
Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor raw material consumption and finished goods output.
- Ensure accurate production records and inventory reconciliation.
- Reduce material wastage and improve production yield.
- Coordinate with the Stores and Procurement teams for uninterrupted material availability.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all applicable food industry regulations and labor laws.
- Maintain workplace safety standards and conduct regular safety audits.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events and implement corrective actions.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Monitor production KPIs and present performance reports to management.
- Maintain production records, batch records, and regulatory documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, Food Safety Management Systems, or Lean Manufacturing are preferred.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in food manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Production Manager role.
- Experience in FMCG, Rice Mills, Flour Mills, Spices, Ready-to-Eat Foods, Snacks, Bakery, Dairy, Frozen or Food Processing Industries preferred.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
