JOB DESCRIPTION
The Design Consultant is responsible for understanding client requirements, developing creative interior design concepts, coordinating with clients and internal departments, and ensuring the successful execution of projects from concept to completion. The role requires excellent design knowledge, client management skills, and coordination with production and site execution teams to deliver projects that meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Client Consultation & Requirement Analysis
- Meet clients to understand their functional requirements, preferences, lifestyle, and budget.
- Conduct detailed discussions to gather project information.
- Perform site visits and measurements whenever required.
- Provide professional design recommendations based on client requirements.
2. Interior Design & Space Planning
- Develop creative and functional design concepts.
- Prepare space planning, furniture layouts, and interior design solutions.
- Select suitable materials, finishes, colours, lighting, and accessories.
- Ensure designs comply with company standards and project specifications.
3. Design Presentation
- Prepare mood boards, design concepts, presentations, and proposals.
- Present design ideas confidently to clients.
- Modify designs based on client feedback while maintaining functionality and aesthetics.
- Obtain client approval for final designs.
4. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with AutoCAD Draftsmen and 3D Designers for preparation of production drawings and visualizations.
- Verify drawings before submission to production.
- Ensure all technical drawings are accurate and complete.
5. Production Coordination
- Coordinate with the production department regarding material specifications and design feasibility.
- Clarify production-related queries.
- Ensure production drawings match approved designs.
- Assist in resolving design-related production issues.
6. Site Coordination
- Coordinate with the Site Execution Team during installation.
- Conduct site inspections whenever required.
- Verify site readiness before production and installation.
- Resolve design-related issues during execution.
7. Project Coordination
- Coordinate with CRM, Sales, Production, Procurement, and Site Teams.
- Track project progress from design approval to final handover.
- Ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
- Support smooth communication among all stakeholders.
8. Documentation
- Maintain client files, approvals, design revisions, and project documentation.
- Prepare BOQs, material specifications, and design notes when required.
- Record all client approvals before proceeding with production.
9. Quality Assurance
- Ensure design quality throughout project execution.
- Verify installations against approved drawings.
- Recommend corrective actions when deviations are identified.
10. Customer Satisfaction
- Build strong relationships with clients.
- Address client concerns professionally.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–6 years of experience in interior design or modular interior projects.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of interior design principles and space planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Lumion, or similar design software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong client handling and negotiation abilities.
- Knowledge of modular furniture and production processes.
- Good understanding of materials, finishes, and construction methods.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Time management and multitasking abilities.
- Team coordination and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
