Role Overview:
The Computer Lab Instructor is responsible for maintaining well-functioning computer labs, assisting faculty and students during practical sessions, and ensuring that the lab environment supports both academic and skill-development goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Laboratory Management & Maintenance
-
Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network resources to provide uninterrupted lab sessions.

Maintain proper stock registers, issue registers, logbooks, and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) records.
-
Ensure smooth functioning of all computer laboratories in alignment with the academic curriculum.
-
Ensure that the laboratory infrastructure is compliant with NAAC criteria on teaching-learning resources.
2. Academic Support
-
Assist faculty and students during lab sessions by providing technical guidance.
-
Prepare and update lab manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user guidelines.

Ensure alignment of lab work with the course outcomes (COs) and program outcomes (POs) as required by Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and NAAC documentation.

Support in conducting internal/external practical examinations.
3. Data and Documentation (NAAC Compliance)

Maintain records of lab usage (student attendance, utilization reports, log sheets).

Assist in preparing data for NAAC, NBA, or other accreditation bodies regarding lab facilities, ICT usage, and student support.

Ensure protocols and compliance reports are updated.

Student Support and Skill Development
-
Guide students in using software tools, programming environments, and project development.

Support students in mini-projects, hackathons, and skill-enhancement activities.

Encourage adherence to digital ethics, cybersecurity awareness, and responsible computing practices.
4. Student Support and Skill Development

Guide students in using software tools, programming environments, and project development.

5. Administrative & Institutional Support

Assist in procurement of hardware/software through proper documentation.

Coordinate with vendors, IT support staff, and administration for lab-related requirements.

Participate in institutional committees (IT Committee, NAAC Committee, Digital Learning Committee, etc.) as assigned.

Provide technical support for online exams, seminars, training programs, and digital learning initiatives. Collaborate in committees and institutional development activities.
Qualifications & Skills Required:

B.E./B.Tech (or equivalent UG degree) and M.E./M.Tech (or equivalent PG degree) in Computer Science & Engineering or relevant discipline (Information Technology, Computer Applications, or equivalent) with First Class or equivalent CGPA as per norms.

Strong knowledge of computer systems, software tools, and networking.

Familiarity with ICT-enabled learning.

Good communication skills and willingness to continuously upgrade technical expertise.
