Job Description – Safety Supervisor
Department: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
Location: Essen Speciality Films Limited – Rajkot, Gujarat
Reports To: EHS Manager / Plant Head
Job Summary
The Safety Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and monitoring all safety standards across the manufacturing facility. The role focuses on ensuring statutory compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, conducting safety inspections, and minimizing workplace hazards to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine plant safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
- Conduct safety inductions and awareness training for new employees and contractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain statutory safety records, registers, permits, and documentation.
- Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings.
- Monitor hot work, height work, confined space entry, electrical isolation, and other permit-to-work activities.
- Ensure fire safety systems, firefighting equipment, and emergency exits are maintained and inspected.
- Coordinate emergency response drills and evacuation exercises.
- Support safety audits (internal and external) and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Promote behavioural safety initiatives and employee safety awareness programs.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, HR, and contractors to ensure safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Safety, Fire & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/ITI from a recognized institute will be preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in plastics, extrusion, packaging, or chemical manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of the Factories Act, Gujarat Factory Rules, and industrial safety regulations.
- Good understanding of Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
- Knowledge of Fire & Safety Management and Emergency Response.
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Risk Assessment (HIRA/JSA) knowledge.
- Safety audit and inspection skills.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.
Preferred Certifications
- Industrial Safety Certification.
- Fire & Safety Certification.
- First Aid Certification
