Job description:
The Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and submitting competitive technical and commercial bids for projects. The role involves coordinating with internal departments, suppliers, and clients to ensure accurate cost estimation, compliance with tender requirements, and timely submission of proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and client requirements
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, material take-offs, and pricing schedules
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, finance, and project teams for inputs
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure cost competitiveness
- Prepare technical and commercial bid documents in compliance with tender conditions
- Identify risks, assumptions, and value engineering opportunities
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and clarifications with clients
- Ensure timely submission of tenders and proposals
- Maintain a database of tender documents, pricing, and historical cost data
- Support contract negotiations and handover to project execution teams
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Civil
- 5–8 years of experience in tendering, estimation, or proposals (depending on seniority)
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation, BOQs, and contract terms
- Familiarity with local and international tendering procedures
- Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation software (e.g., Primavera, Candy, CostX, etc.)
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
Skillls
- Knowledge of cost calculation, pricing, and budgeting
- Working with estimation teams to prepare the financial bid
- Coordinating with clients, vendors, and internal departments
- Writing clear emails, proposals, and tender responses
- Negotiating with suppliers, partners, and clients for better pricing
- Managing strict tender deadlines
- Organizing documents and submission schedules
- Experience using government and private tender portals such as
- Government e-Marketplace (GeM)
- Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP)
- TenderTiger
