The Head of Finance owns the company’s financial backbone, bringing together control, cash discipline, and decision support to ensure growth is profitable, well-funded, and compliant.
This is a core leadership role that works at the intersection of finance, sales, operations, and leadership. You will act as both a steward of strong fundamentals and a partner in building the next phase of scale.
Your mandate is to create a finance function that leadership relies on, banks respect, and the business can confidently scale 3–4×.
Reports to: COO
Internal Interfaces: Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Inventory
External Interfaces: Banks, Auditors, Tax Consultants, ERP partners
Within the first year, success in this role would mean:
- Monthly books closed within 5 working days
- Decision-grade MIS that enables confident leadership decisions
- Strong visibility and control over working capital and cash flow
- Robust, predictable compliance across GST, audits, and statutory requirements
- A finance function designed to scale 3–4× smoothly as the business grows
- Own end-to-end accounting, GL, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and timely
- Lead statutory, tax, and internal audits
- Build and sustain strong internal controls and documentation
- Design and own MIS across:
- SKU-wise and category-wise gross margins
- Channel-wise profitability (GT / MT / E-commerce)
- Dealer outstanding ageing and credit exposure
- Inventory turns, slow-moving, and obsolete stock
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Translate data into clear, actionable insights for the business
- Own AR, AP, and Inventory governance end-to-end
- Design and implement dealer credit policies and limits
- Run rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts
- Improve cash conversion as revenue scales
- Partner with sales and supply chain to balance growth with liquidity
- Ensure timely and accurate GST, TDS/TCS, and statutory filings
- Oversee e-invoicing, e-way bills, and reconciliations
- Work closely with external advisors on assessments and notices
- Build a culture of disciplined, predictable compliance
- Manage CC / OD / LC limits, renewals, and negotiations
- Build strong, long-term relationships with banking partners
- Support debt planning and fund-raising readiness
- Drive efficiency in treasury management and interest costs
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and leadership team
- Bring an objective, data-led perspective to key business decisions
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-quality finance team
- Lead process and system maturity, including ERP and automation where relevant
- Set and enforce dealer credit limits
- Place dispatch holds for overdue accounts
- Approve capex within agreed thresholds
- Direct access to CEO / Board on financial risks and opportunities
- Chartered Accountant (CA)
- 10–15 years of relevant experience
- Experience in manufacturing, consumer appliances, FMCG, or distribution-heavy business
- Strong hands-on exposure to GST, audits, and working capital
- Experience scaling a business from 50 Cr to 100+ Cr and beyond
- Prior engagement with banks and financial institutions
- Comfortable operating in fast-changing, founder-led environments
