Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by actively monitoring and investigating issues across various components of essential business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behaviors, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical applications. The engineer collaborates with different teams to maintain system stability and swiftly resolve disruptions, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of business services in a dynamic environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide L2/L3 support for AWS networking components including VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT Gateways, endpoint, DNS, VPN, R53, WAF and Internet Gateways
Manage and troubleshoot hybrid connectivity (Site-to-Site VPN, Client VPN, Direct Connect)
Configure and maintain network access controls using Security Groups and NACLs
Monitor and resolve network performance issues such as latency, packet loss, and connectivity failures
Manage DNS services using Route 53 (public and private hosted zones) and resolver rules
Support load balancing solutions (ALB/NLB) to ensure application availability
Implement network monitoring and logging using CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, and CloudTrail
Automate network provisioning and configurations using Terraform or CloudFormation
Perform incident, change, and problem management for network-related issues
Maintain documentation for network architecture and operational procedures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure changes
Professional & Technical Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with:
o Amazon VPC, IPAM, Subnetting, CIDR planning
o Route Tables, Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway
o Transit Gateway, VPC Peering, PrivateLink
o Route 53 (DNS management), hosted zones
o Endpoint and resolver rules
o Elastic Load Balancers (ALB/NLB)
o Direct Connect and VPN solutions
o WAF and relevant best practices
Experience with CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, and monitoring tools
Proficiency in Terraform or CloudFormation for Infrastructure-as-Code
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and networking fundamentals
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to manage incidents and work in a 24/7 support environment (on-call/shift)
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Proactive approach to performance optimization and issue prevention
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in AWS Architecture.
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
