Job Summary
The Production Supervisor – Fabrication Line is responsible for overseeing daily fabrication operations, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The role involves supervising operators, coordinating with maintenance and quality teams, and optimizing fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Management
- Plan and supervise daily fabrication line activities.
- Ensure production targets and schedules are met.
- Monitor workflow and adjust manpower or resources as required.
- Minimize downtime and ensure smooth line operations.
2. Team Supervision
- Supervise fabrication operators, welders, helpers, and technicians.
- Allocate work to team members based on skill and workload.
- Train workers on fabrication processes and safety procedures.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and performance.
3. Quality Control
- Ensure fabrication work meets drawing specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality department for inspections.
- Identify defects and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation of quality checks.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all workers follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
5. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support lean manufacturing practices.
6. Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure proper usage of fabrication equipment and tools.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for machine breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor equipment efficiency.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily production reports.
- Maintain records of output, manpower, downtime, and defects.
- Communicate production status to management.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, assembly).
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in supervising fabrication shop floor operations preferred.
