Core Responsibilities
- Safe Operation: Start, monitor, and shut down high-pressure boilers according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintenance & Monitoring: Regularly check water levels, steam pressure, and fuel consumption. Monitor temperature gauges and safety valves to prevent malfunctions.
- Water Treatment: Perform routine water analysis and manage the softening/treatment plant to prevent scaling and corrosion within the boiler tubes.
- Fuel Management: Oversee the feeding of fuel (Coal, Briquettes, or Gas) and ensure efficient combustion.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate logbooks for steam generation, fuel usage, and shift activities as per the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR).
- Troubleshooting: Identify and report any leakage, unusual noise, or technical faults to the Plant Manager or Maintenance Head immediately.
Key Requirements
- Certification: Must possess a valid 1st Class or 2nd Class Boiler Attendant Certificate issued by the Directorate of Steam Boilers.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in operating IBR boilers, preferably within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or textile industries.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of boiler chemistry, safety interlocks, and auxiliary equipment like feed pumps and ID/FD fans.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to work in shifts and handle the physical demands of a boiler room environment.
