Global Technology Scouting & Supplier Development Manager
The Global Technology Scouting & Supplier Development Manager is responsible for identifying emerging technologies and building a capable global supplier ecosystem to support current and future product strategies. The role bridges technology innovation, engineering, and supply chain to enable cost‑competitive, scalable, and high‑quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Initiate, set up, and execute supplier performance management.

Perform a yearly review of strategic equipment suppliers within BA UX globally and align a dedicated gap mitigation action plan.

Support technology development and validation of innovative manufacturing technologies at supplier sites.

Support alignment of sourcing release for new equipment and special process suppliers.

Support the establishment of Continental BA UX Production Standards and Multi-Use Equipment.

Scout and evaluate emerging technologies, suppliers, and startups aligned with business and product roadmaps

Lead supplier identification, qualification, and capability development activities globally

Collaborate with engineering, R&D, purchasing, and quality teams to translate technology needs into supplier strategies

Drive early supplier involvement (ESI) during concept and development phases

Assess suppliers for technical capability, innovation maturity, scalability, cost, and risk

Support make‑buy decisions, sourcing strategies, and localization initiatives

Manage technology benchmarking, proof‑of‑concepts, and supplier pilots

Build long‑term strategic partnerships to ensure innovation, quality, and supply continuity
Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology Management, or Business

Strong understanding of engineering technologies and manufacturing ecosystems

Experience in technology scouting, supplier development, or strategic sourcing

Ability to evaluate both technical and commercial aspects of suppliers

Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills

Global supplier engagement and negotiation experience
Primary Focus
Technology innovation enablement, supplier capability development, and long‑term competitiveness
Qualifications
Education / Certification
Master's or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Physics
Professional Experience
At least 2 years of experience in the automotive or consumer electronics/display industry in a variety of functions. Experience in industrialization of innovative products and processes, customer communication, and building relationships.
Project / Process Experience
Experience in product launches of at least 2 projects and cross-location coordination. Multi-discipline and multi-party project management. Managing business-critical topics across management levels – target alignment, progress tracking, proper reporting.
Leadership Experience
More than 2 years of global team management experience. Change and Transformation Management skills.
Intercultural / International
Proven experience working with and leading international, intercultural, and interdisciplinary teams.
Additional Information
Functional Leadership: Leading global and local EPMs toward supplier BA UX equipment supplier strategy, with focus on the biggest investment impact and most strategic technology (direct impact on 20–50 M€ equipment investment).
Project Management Leadership: Execute supplier performance management for BA UX business-critical equipment suppliers and safeguard sustainable business relationships (impact > 1 billion EUR sales/year at BA UX).
Functional Leadership: Act as the representative of BA UX toward dedicated equipment supplier management relevant to BA UX business (key suppliers) and to the production equipment purchasing department for global equipment supplier sourcing.
