Responsibilities
- Container Follow-up: Track container booking, pickup, loading, gate-in, vessel schedule, transshipment, and delivery/return.
- Documentation: Handle and coordinate BIETC, ECTN, BV Inspection, and other shipment-related documents.
- Final Validation: Check all final documents for container number, seal number, BL details, invoice, packing list, quantity, weight, consignee, vessel/voyage, etc.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, CHA/customs agents, inspection agencies, and overseas agents.
- Logistics Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to container delays, booking problems, vessel rollovers, documentation discrepancies, customs/clearance issues, transportation delays, and other shipment-related problems.
- Daily Follow-up: Maintain shipment-wise status and follow up continuously until the issue is closed.
- Escalation: Immediately highlight critical delays or issues that may affect vessel cutoff, shipment departure, customer delivery, or additional costs.
- Cost Control: Monitor issues that may lead to demurrage, detention, storage, port charges, or other logistics costs and coordinate timely resolution.
- Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly container and logistics status reports for management.
Qualification
- B.Com
- BBA / BBM
- Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- International Business
- Shipping / Maritime-related course
- Experience: 2–5 years in export documentation, shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics coordination.
- Preferred experience: Candidate who has actually handled container follow-up, BIETC, ECTN, BV Inspection, BL/invoice/packing-list validation, and logistics issues.
- Computer skills: Good MS Excel, Word, Outlook/email skills.
- Communication: Good English communication, especially email and telephone follow-up.
- Other skills: Strong coordination, negotiation, problem-solving, deadline management, and attention to detail.
My preferred candidate profile
B.Com/BBA + 3 years export/logistics experience + hands-on BIETC/ECTN/BV + container follow-up + good Excel + strong communication.
I would not require a specialized logistics degree if the candidate already has strong practical shipping experience. In this role, hands-on experience and follow-up ability are more valuable than the degree.
