Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and reliability of all plant machinery, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure. The role involves preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency while maintaining safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance
- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all production machinery and utilities.
- Monitor machine health and ensure timely servicing.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records and checklists.
Breakdown Maintenance
- Attend machine breakdowns promptly and restore equipment within the minimum possible time.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Equipment & Utilities
- Maintain production machines, compressors, chillers, air dryers, DG sets, electrical panels, and utility equipment.
- Monitor utility consumption and improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with external service providers for specialized maintenance.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Support TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen initiatives.
- Recommend modifications or upgrades to improve equipment performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety procedures and statutory regulations.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the maintenance area.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by the maintenance team.
Documentation
- Maintain maintenance logs, equipment history cards, calibration records, and spare parts inventory.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Monitor machine downtime and analyze trends.
Spare Parts Management
- Maintain optimum inventory of critical spare parts.
- Coordinate with the Purchase department for procurement of spare parts and consumables.
- Verify the quality and specifications of purchased components.
Team Coordination:
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Stores departments for maintenance planning.
- Guide technicians and maintenance assistants during repair activities.
- Provide technical support and training to operators for basic machine maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Fresher to 3 years: Maintenance of manufacturing machinery.
- Experience in plastics, packaging, woven sacks, textile, extrusion, or process industries will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
