Job Summary
HCLTech is seeking a Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design, standardize, and own sovereign-compliant DB PaaS offerings covering both Relational (SQL) and NoSQL platforms. The role focuses on data sovereignty, technology sovereignty, and operations sovereignty, ensuring database services are regulator-aligned, audit-ready, secure, and scalable across regions.
Key Responsibilities
Define sovereign DBaaS reference architectures for SQL and NoSQL platforms
Design jurisdiction-locked and air-gapped DB deployment models
Establish tenant isolation models for regulated and critical workloads
Define data residency, encryption, BYOK/HYOK, and key custody models
Design HA, DR, backup, retention, and secure data deletion architectures
Own the DBaaS service catalog including supported engines, versions, and tiers
Build DBaaS blueprints, templates, and solution documents as reusable assets
Act as design authority for DBaaS-related architecture and exception reviews
Support RFPs, strategic deals, and presales with sovereign DB assurance
Skill Requirements
Strong experience with Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
Strong experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, key-value / document stores)
Deep expertise in DB PaaS architectures and cloud-native data services
Strong understanding of data residency, access sovereignty, and audit requirements
Experience working in regulated or sovereign cloud environments
