We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly focused Proofreader & QC Specialist from Pre Press Industry to join our pre-press and publishing team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring our publications meet the highest standards of accuracy, consistency, and presentation. This role involves meticulous scrutiny of content across a range of formats including books, reports, magazines, and educational materials before they go to print or digital publication.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure that the final layout matches the original source documents and content.
- Verify spelling, grammar, punctuation, style consistency, page numbering, headers/footers, captions, illustrations, and design elements.
- Use industry-standard proofreading symbols and digital tools to mark corrections clearly and professionally.
- Ensure adherence to house style, client guidelines, and publishing standards.
Detail Verification
- Check visual elements such as tables, graphs, photographs, and illustrations for accurate captioning and contextual consistency.
- Identify typographical, formatting, and layout issues that may affect readability or print production quality.
- Ensure the integrity of mathematical, scientific, or technical data (where applicable) during quality control checks.
Process & Communication
- Work closely with typesetters, designers, editors, and project managers to resolve errors and maintain version control.
- Maintain clear documentation of errors and corrections for team awareness and process improvements.
- Communicate effectively to ensure quality-related issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Technical Skills & Industry Awareness
- Use proofreading and markup tools (digital and manual) proficiently.
- Familiarity with editorial markup conventions and the ability to work on both digital and printed proofs.
- Remain informed about best practices in publishing, proofreading, and editorial quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in English, Journalism, Publishing, Mass Communication, or related field
- 3–5 years of professional experience in proofreading, editorial quality control, or pre-press publishing
- Prior experience in academic, educational, or business publishing environments is advantageous
Optional Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat (for on-screen markup)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word (track changes, styles)
- Exposure to InDesign, XML, PowerPoint or other typesetting and layout software (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience with proofreading in multilingual and multi-format projects (regional or international languages)
