About the Role
Our sister company is a growing U.S.-based accounting and tax firm with global offices. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting & Tax Manager to join our Ahmedabad team. This is a high-impact role that combines hands-on tax and accounting work with leadership responsibilities — you will manage client engagements, mentor junior staff, and serve as a key liaison between our India office and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Review
● Review and approve U.S. tax returns prepared by Junior Associates, including:
- Form 1040 – Individual Income Tax Returns
- Form 1041 – Estates and Trusts
- Form 1065 – Partnerships
- Form 1120-S – S Corporations
● Research IRS notices, analyze applicable tax law, and draft written responses.
● Ensure all filings comply with current U.S. federal and applicable state tax regulations.
● Support the firm during peak tax seasons with additional tax-related assignments.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
● Oversee and execute accounting engagements from initiation through completion.
● Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
● Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP principles, internal controls, and firm accounting standards.
● Maintain accuracy and integrity of client financial records.
Project & Client Management
● Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, tracking deadlines and deliverable status.
● Communicate proactively with clients — providing status updates, delivering completed work, and resolving queries in a professional and timely manner.
● Coordinate departmental workflow to meet turnaround time KPIs and quality standards.
● Identify process improvement opportunities and escalate issues as needed.
Leadership & Training
● Train, coach, and supervise junior staff and interns across global offices.
● Review work product of Junior Associates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission.
● Conduct internal training sessions and client-facing presentations on tax and accounting topics.
● Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional excellence.
Qualifications
Required
● Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred; equivalent practical experience considered.
● Solid, demonstrable knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and U.S. federal/state tax law.
● Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing U.S. tax returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120-S).
● Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) and Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
● Strong written and verbal English communication skills — client-facing experience required.
● Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
● Prior experience working with a U.S.-based accounting or CPA firm (remote or in-person).
● Familiarity with IRS correspondence, notice responses, and tax research tools.
● Experience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff.
● Proficiency with additional tax software. Experience with MyTaxPrepOffice(MTPO) a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Sign-On Bonus: $100 (paid upon joining)
Base Salary: $1,000 per month for the first 6 months; $1,200 per month thereafter
Performance Bonus: Up to 10% of annual compensation based on KPI achievement
KPIs include turnaround times, accuracy rates, client satisfaction, and workflow efficiency. Bonus eligibility and payout details will be discussed during the offer process.
Performance Expectations
The Accounting & Tax Manager will be evaluated against the following KPIs:
● Turnaround time on tax return reviews and client deliverables.
● Accuracy rate on reviewed work (target: ≥ 98%).
● Timeliness and quality of client communications.
● Training effectiveness and junior staff development scores.
● Workflow efficiency and adherence to firm processes and deadlines.
