The Senior Cost Accountant - Inventory/Supply Chain Finance will act as a high-impact finance partner to various functions across Supply Chain: Procurement, Inventory Management, Supply Planning, etc. —helping turn complex operational activity into clear, decision-ready insights. This role spans end-to-end financial ownership across inventory transactions, assets, and liabilities, inventory reserves, and other key operational cost drivers, while also partnering with third-party suppliers on reporting and financial processes. Additionally, this role is the lead for Internal SOX and External audit inquiries for the Supply Chain Finance/Cost Accounting team.
The position will focus on delivering sharp analysis that uncovers opportunities, strengthens controls, and drives meaningful improvements in performance and efficiency. Supply Chain Finance is a dynamic team, covering multiple areas of product COGS, so there are opportunities to take on responsibilities beyond what is listed below.
- Inventory Accounting: Manage and report on inventory-related assets and liabilities, including inventory overhead, excess and obsolete inventory reserves, scrap, rework/teardown, and overhead costs.
- ERP Subject Matter Expert (SME): Serve as the Oracle ERP SME with respect to inventory organizations, transactions, and related financial processes. Ensure accurate and efficient use of Oracle ERP for inventory management.
- Quarter-End Cut-Off Procedures: Execute and oversee quarter-end cut-off procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Third-Party Audit Support: Serve as the audit POC to support internal SOX and external audit inquiries related to inventory accounting and supply chain finance. Manage audit requests, schedules, and documentation.
- Financial Close and Forecasting: Support monthly and quarterly financial close and forecasting cycles, including preparing P&L and Balance Sheet schedules (e.g. inventory projections, inventory overhead, E&O & PO Commit liability, rework and teardown expense, strategic buy tracking).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain teams on cross-functional projects to drive operational and financial optimization.
- Process Governance: Provide process governance and help enforce operational adherence to company accounting and financial policies and internal controls.
- Supplier Collaboration: Partner with third-party suppliers and service providers on finance-related processes and reporting, including inventory reporting, cut-off procedures, reconciliations, and data validation.
You should be able to apply a breadth of tools, data sources, and analytical techniques to answer a wide range of high-impact business questions and present insights concisely and effectively. You should also be an effective communicator capable of independently driving issues to resolution, extracting insights from data, converting ideas into action, and communicating clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in finance, cost accounting, and business analysis.
- High degree of proficiency modeling in Excel.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, Hyperion, Power BI, and PowerPoint presentations is a big plus.
- Self-starter with a high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Global Coordination: Ability to work flexible hours to coordinate with a US, West Coast team.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with international teams.
- Familiarity with Global Standards: Knowledge of international accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS) and experience working in a global business environment is preferred.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in a global technology firm involved in hardware manufacturing, preferably within a similar industry to NetApp or related fields.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
