A Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients in hospitals or healthcare facilities. They manage patient admissions, conduct examinations, provide treatment, and coordinate with specialists while ensuring continuous medical supervision in the hospital.
- Examine patients and diagnose medical conditions
- Provide immediate treatment for illnesses and injuries
- Monitor patient progress and update medical records
- Respond to emergency cases in wards or emergency departments
- Prescribe medications and treatments
- Coordinate with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare staff
- Supervise patient admissions and discharges
- Ensure proper documentation of patient history and treatment
- Maintain hospital protocols and patient safety standards
