Job Summary
The School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. The role involves providing first aid, managing medical emergencies, maintaining health records, administering prescribed medications, coordinating health programs, and ensuring compliance with school health and safety regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Health Care
- Provide first aid and immediate medical care for students and staff during illness or injury.
- Assess health concerns and determine appropriate care or referral.
- Administer prescribed medications as per school policy with proper documentation.
- Monitor students with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and allergies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information.
Medical Records & Documentation
- Maintain updated medical records of students and staff.
- Record all visits to the infirmary, treatments provided, and follow-up actions.
- Ensure vaccination and health records are maintained as per statutory requirements.
- Prepare periodic health reports for school management.
Emergency Management
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
- Coordinate with hospitals, ambulance services, and parents during emergencies.
- Ensure first aid kits are adequately stocked across the campus.
- Conduct periodic checks of emergency medical equipment.
Health Screening & Preventive Care
- Organize annual health check-ups, dental check-ups, eye examinations, and vaccination drives.
- Monitor communicable diseases and recommend preventive measures.
- Educate students and staff on hygiene, nutrition, mental wellness, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Support infection prevention and control measures within the school.
Parent & Staff Coordination
- Inform parents regarding student illnesses, injuries, or medical concerns.
- Advise teachers regarding students with special medical needs.
- Coordinate with external healthcare providers when required.
- Assist in developing individual healthcare plans for students with medical conditions.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with school health policies and government regulations.
- Participate in disaster management and emergency preparedness drills.
- Conduct health awareness programs and first aid training for staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the infirmary.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage inventory of medicines and medical supplies.
- Ensure medicines are stored and disposed of according to regulations.
- Prepare requisitions for medical supplies and equipment.
- Support school events, sports activities, excursions, and camps by providing medical assistance.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) or General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM).
- Registered Nurse with a valid State Nursing Council registration.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid is preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of nursing experience.
- Prior experience in a school, hospital, or pediatric healthcare setting is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Full-time position based on the school campus.
- May be required to support school events, sports meets, field trips, and other extracurricular activities.
- Availability during school hours and emergencies as required.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
