Life Centre for Child Development & Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary Centre in Kottayam. The successful candidate will work with children on the autism spectrum, utilizing evidence-based therapies to enhance their motor, sensory, and daily living skills. You will be a key part of our mission to improve the quality of life for children with autism and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of children with autism to identify their sensory, motor, and functional abilities.
- Develop individualized therapy plans tailored to each child's needs and goals.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services, focusing on sensory integration, motor skills development, and daily living skills.
- Work collaboratively with a team of speech therapists, behavioral specialists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Engage parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process, offering education and training to support ongoing development at home.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and session notes.
- Contribute to case conferences and multidisciplinary meetings to ensure the best outcomes for the children we serve.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid Occupational Therapy license or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of sensory integration techniques and other interventions commonly used in pediatric therapy.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to therapy.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to a collaborative, family-centered care model.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in sensory integration therapy or experience in using sensory-based interventions.
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
- Prior experience working in a pediatric clinic or autism center is an asset.
