The PET-CT Scanning Technologist is responsible for performing PET-CT imaging procedures for oncology patients, ensuring patient safety, image quality, radiation safety compliance, and accurate documentation. The role involves preparation of patients, operation of PET-CT equipment, radiopharmaceutical handling, and coordination with oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and radiologists.
- Prepare patients for PET-CT procedures and explain the scanning process.
- Verify patient identity, clinical history, and investigation requests.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals as per physician instructions and protocols.
- Operate PET-CT equipment and acquire high-quality diagnostic images.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain radiation safety standards and infection control practices.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Maintain accurate patient records and scan documentation.
- Coordinate with oncology consultants, radiologists, and nursing teams.
- Perform routine equipment quality control checks.
- Assist in scheduling and patient flow management.
- B.Sc./Diploma in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiology, or Medical Imaging Technology.
- Certification in PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine preferred.
- Knowledge of radiation safety regulations.
