About the Role
We are looking for a Business Head – Sales & Growth to take complete ownership of our Kannur operations. This is not a desk job.
You will act as the P&L owner, diversify customer acquisition channels beyond referrals and social media, and proactively build relationships with associations, corporates, colleges, NGOs, and community groups. You will also bring rigorous enquiry tracking and conversion optimization to our social media channels.
You will lead, train, and mentor a small team, drive sales, build new products, negotiate with vendors, and ensure customer happiness. Since Management is not based in Kannur, you will operate with significant autonomy and coordinate closely with senior remote staff.
Key Responsibilities1. P&L & Profitability Management
- Own branch revenue, margin, and profitability targets
- Monitor monthly sales, expenses, and net profit
- Report variances to Management with actionable insights
- Identify and eliminate non-profitable products or processes
2. Social Media Enquiry Management (High Priority)
Social media (Instagram, Facebook) is a major source of enquiries. Every comment, DM, and lead form is a revenue opportunity.
You will:
- Implement a centralized tracking system (Excel/Google Sheets) for every enquiry
- Ensure all enquiries receive acknowledgment within 15 minutes during working hours (9 AM – 7 PM)
- Set up after-hours auto-reply with next-morning follow-up
- Train staff to respond warmly and professionally, asking at least one qualifying question
- Conduct weekly and monthly conversion funnel reviews
- Analyze lost enquiry reasons (price, response time, itinerary, competition) and implement fixes
- Leverage part-time social media staff for monitoring and content creation
- Monitor local Kannur travel groups on Facebook for organic opportunities
3. Sales & Business Development (Field Hunter Role)
Spend 40–50% of your time outside the office building relationships and generating new business channels.
Target channels include:
- Associations & Clubs – Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Lions, JCI, SNDP, Muslim Jamaath, Church parishes, Temple trusts, IMA, Hotel Owners' Association
- Corporates – Employee travel benefits, corporate retreats
- Colleges – Annual trips, student group travel
- NGOs – Travel for programs and events
4. Marketing & Local Brand Building
- Work with part-time social media staff to create content supporting field activities
- Suggest and run low-cost local marketing campaigns
- Act as brand ambassador for Happy Map Holidays in the local community
- Collect video/photo testimonials from happy customers
5. Team Leadership & Training
Train on-site staff on:
- Enquiry tracking and follow-up reminders
- 15-minute response SLA
- Basic qualification questions (budget, destination, group size, travel dates)
- Escalation protocol
Coordinate with senior WFH staff on:
- Complex international quotes
- Strategy, operations, and business planning
- Daily/weekly target setting and performance review
6. Vendor Negotiation & Partnerships
- Negotiate with hotels, DMCs, transport providers, and airlines
- Build a reliable vendor network for key destinations
- Regularly renegotiate contracts to improve margins
7. Customer Happiness (Post-Sales)
- Ensure pre-trip briefings, itinerary documents, and 24/7 travel support
- Handle escalations immediately – public complaints on social media are highest priority
- Collect post-trip feedback and reviews systematically
8. New Product Development
- Create and launch new products based on demand trends
- Add value-added services: travel insurance, forex assistance, travel SIM cards
9. Strategic Direction
- Propose a 12-month business development plan with targets for associations, corporates, colleges, and NGOs
- Maintain a CRM/enquiry tracker accessible to Management remotely
- Identify new revenue streams: corporate retainers, college annual travel contracts
Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
