Actuarial Senior Analyst – Europe Valuation Team
Role Summary
As an Actuarial Senior Analyst within the Europe Valuation team, you will play a lead role in delivering high-quality actuarial reserving and financial reporting across Cigna’s European, Global Health Benefits (GHB), Spain, and run-off portfolios.
This role offers the opportunity to build strong technical expertise in reserving while progressively taking ownership of key deliverables and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes, controls, and systems. You will work across multiple reporting frameworks, including Solvency II, BE GAAP, US GAAP, and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA)
You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across Actuarial, Finance, Capital, Risk, Pricing, Underwriting, IT, senior management, and both internal and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Reserving & Financial Reporting

Produce and review technical provisions across Solvency II, US GAAP, and BMA for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.

Deliver Solvency II QRT reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with underlying reserving outputs.

Ensure timely delivery of reserving outputs in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Maintain, and enhance reserving models (Excel and Prophet), including validation, reconciliation, and control checks.

Lead experience analysis and contribute to assumption setting and annual basis reviews.

Contribute to business planning, budgeting, and forecasting exercises.
2. Analysis, Insights & Reporting

Analyse movements in technical provisions and clearly articulate key drivers and variances.

Provide high-quality commentary for management, committees, and regulatory reporting.
3. Stakeholder Management & Audit Support

Collaborate with Finance, Capital, Risk, and other stakeholders to support interpretation of results.

Act as a key contact for actuarial queries, providing clear and timely responses.

Support internal and external audits, including:

Responding to audit queries

Providing supporting data and documentation

Explaining methodologies, assumptions, and reserve movements

Ensure all outputs and documentation are audit-ready and aligned with governance standards.
4. Process Improvement & Automation

Identify and implement improvements to reserving processes, controls, and efficiency.

Support automation and system enhancements using tools such as R, Alteryx, SQL, or Addactis.

Maintain and update process documentation, ensuring appropriate controls, reviews, and sign-offs.
5. Team Contribution & Development

Provide guidance to and mentor junior analysts/associates.

Contribute to a high-performing and collaborative team environment.

Support onboarding and knowledge sharing within the team.
Skills & Experience
Technical & Professional
-
Strong actuarial and analytical capabilities with a focus on accuracy and delivery.

Experience or exposure to reserving and financial reporting processes.

Understanding of Solvency II, including QRT reporting, and other frameworks (US GAAP/BMA) preferred.

Ability to interpret results and provide insightful analysis.
Systems & Tools
-
Advanced Excel skills, including handling large datasets and complex models.

Experience with actuarial systems (e.g. Prophet) is advantageous.

Familiarity with data and automation tools (R, Alteryx, SQL, Addactis) preferred.
Qualifications
-
Progress toward actuarial qualification (typically 5–6 exams). People with experience in non-life reserving is also considered.

Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
