1. Inventory & Stock Management
- Inventory Control: Oversee daily stock counts, cycle counts, and periodic full physical audits to ensure the physical stock matches the system records.
- Receiving & Inspection: Supervise the unloading of incoming shipments, verify quantities against delivery notes, and inspect goods for any damages.
- Dispatched Goods: Ensure accurate picking, packing, and timely dispatch of outgoing orders.
- Space Optimization: Plan and organize the warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity and improve operational workflow (e.g., placing fast-moving goods near the shipping docks).
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Staff Management: Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse laborers, forklift drivers, and data entry clerks.
- Task Delegation: Assign daily duties, set clear performance targets, and manage staff schedules or shifts.
- Conflict Resolution: Maintain a positive, productive team environment and address any staff grievances or performance issues promptly.
3. Safety, Security & Compliance
- Safety Protocols: Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations (like OSHA), ensuring the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe operation of machinery.
- Housekeeping (5S): Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the facility to prevent accidents.
- Security Control: Prevent theft, pilferage, and unauthorized access to the warehouse premises.
- Equipment Maintenance: Schedule routine maintenance and safety checks for warehouse equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and weighing scales.
4. Documentation & Systems Management
- WMS Operations: Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP software (like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) to log all stock movements.
- Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of Goods Received Notes (GRN), delivery orders, damage reports, and return logs.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports to management regarding warehouse KPIs, stock levels, and operational bottlenecks.
5. Vendor & Logistics Coordination
- Carrier Management: Coordinate with external logistics providers, couriers, and truck drivers for smooth loading and unloading.
- Inter-departmental Link: Work closely with Procurement, Sales, and Finance departments to resolve stock discrepancies or urgent delivery requests.
