Position: Nursing Superintendent

Location: Agra Unit (Ujala Cygnus Rainbow Hospital)
Hospital Capacity: 200-Bedded Super-Speciality Hospital
Experience: 10–18 years in Nursing, with significant experience in a supervisory/leadership role
Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing preferred; GNM with relevant senior-level experience may also be considered
Registration: Valid Nursing Council Registration
1. Job Purpose
To provide strategic and operational leadership to the Nursing Department, ensuring high standards of patient care, nursing quality, patient safety, clinical compliance, manpower management, and smooth functioning of all nursing services across the hospital.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Nursing Operations & Patient Care
- Oversee day-to-day nursing operations across ICU, HDU, Emergency, OT, IPD, OPD, Dialysis and other critical/speciality areas.
- Ensure safe, efficient and compassionate nursing care to all patients.
- Ensure compliance with approved nursing protocols, SOPs and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor nursing care standards, medication administration, documentation and handover practices.
- Ensure adequate nursing coverage across all shifts and departments.
- Conduct regular rounds and identify gaps in nursing services.
B. Manpower Planning & Workforce Management
- Assess nursing manpower requirements based on bed strength, occupancy, acuity and departmental workload.
- Prepare and monitor duty rosters, shift allocation and leave planning.
- Ensure appropriate nurse-patient ratios and deployment of staff as per hospital requirements.
- Monitor attendance, absenteeism, overtime, double duties and manpower productivity.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention of nursing staff.
- Identify high-potential nurses and support succession planning.
C. Quality & Patient Safety
- Ensure implementation of nursing quality indicators and patient safety standards.
- Monitor medication errors, falls, pressure injuries, infection incidents and other nursing-related clinical indicators.
- Conduct audits of nursing documentation, medication administration, patient identification and clinical procedures.
- Ensure timely corrective and preventive actions for identified gaps.
- Support NABH and other regulatory/accreditation requirements.
D. Infection Prevention & Control
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control practices.
- Monitor hand hygiene, PPE compliance, biomedical waste segregation and infection control protocols.
- Coordinate with the Infection Control Team for surveillance, audits and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper implementation of isolation precautions.
E. Training & Development
- Identify training needs of nursing staff and prepare an annual training calendar.
- Ensure induction and competency-based training for new nursing employees.
- Conduct regular training on BLS, ACLS, medication safety, infection control, patient safety, emergency response and nursing procedures.
- Conduct competency assessments and maintain training records.
- Promote continuous professional development among nursing staff.
F. Patient & Attendant Experience
- Ensure professional and empathetic communication with patients and attendants.
- Monitor and resolve nursing-related patient complaints.
- Work closely with doctors and other departments to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Promote a patient-centric culture within the Nursing Department.
G. Coordination & Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Coordinate with Medical Superintendent, Unit Head, HR, Operations, Quality, Infection Control, Pharmacy, CSSD, OT, ICU and other departments.
- Participate in clinical and operational review meetings.
- Ensure effective communication between nursing staff and consultants/clinical teams.
- Escalate critical operational and patient-care issues to the appropriate authority.
H. Inventory & Resource Management
- Ensure adequate availability and proper utilization of nursing consumables, emergency drugs and equipment.
- Monitor nursing equipment functionality and coordinate preventive maintenance.
- Control wastage and ensure cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Coordinate with Stores, Pharmacy and Purchase departments for nursing requirements.
I. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure proper maintenance of nursing records, registers and statutory/clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure closure of audit observations within defined timelines.
J. Emergency & Disaster Management
- Ensure nursing preparedness for medical emergencies, codes and mass casualty situations.
- Ensure availability of trained staff for emergency response.
- Participate in mock drills and disaster-management exercises.
- Ensure emergency equipment and crash carts are maintained and readily available.

5. Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate should have 12–18 years of overall nursing experience, including at least 5 years in a senior nursing leadership/administrative role in a multi-speciality/super-speciality hospital of 150–200+ beds.
Experience in managing ICU, Emergency, OT, Critical Care, Dialysis and other high-acuity clinical areas would be preferred.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
