Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled 3D Designer with hands-on experience in thermoforming, vacuum forming, and mould design. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing 3D models, moulds, and tooling for plastic thermoformed products while ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop 3D models for thermoformed and vacuum-formed plastic products.
- Create mould and tooling designs based on customer requirements and production feasibility.
- Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T and technical specifications.
- Develop prototypes and optimize designs for production efficiency.
- Work closely with production, tooling, and quality teams to ensure smooth manufacturing.
- Modify and improve existing moulds and product designs based on production feedback.
- Conduct design reviews and resolve technical issues during product development.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate with vendors for mould manufacturing and tooling development.
- Maintain proper documentation of design revisions, BOMs, and engineering records.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Thermoforming and Vacuum Forming processes.
- Experience in Plastic Mould Design and Tool Development.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of material selection for thermoforming applications.
- Understanding of sheet thickness distribution, draft angles, shrinkage, and tooling concepts.
- Ability to prepare manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Experience in plastic packaging, automotive, appliance, or consumer product manufacturing.
- Knowledge of CNC machining and mould manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
