Role: QA Engineer – Manual Testing
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer with strong hands-on experience in manual testing of web and mobile applications. The candidate will validate end-to-end workflows across mobile apps, web platforms, APIs, and backend systems, with a strong focus on test design, defect investigation, and release quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, designs, and change requests to identify gaps, dependencies, and risks.
- Create and maintain test scenarios, test cases, test data, regression suites, and release checklists.
- Perform Functional, Integration, System, Regression, Smoke, Sanity, Exploratory, Usability, Compatibility, and Negative Testing.
- Test Android and iOS applications across relevant devices and OS versions.
- Validate mobile scenarios involving permissions, app lifecycle, interruptions, weak/no network, retries, camera/microphone, and media flows.
- Test web applications across different browsers, user roles, and permissions.
- Use Browser Developer Tools and network inspection for troubleshooting.
- Perform REST API testing using Postman, Swagger, or equivalent tools.
- Validate API request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, validations, error handling, and workflow dependencies.
- Perform basic SQL/database validation for data creation, updates, mappings, and backend state changes.
- Report high-quality defects with reproducible steps, expected vs. actual results, severity/priority, evidence, logs, environment details, and business impact.
- Retest fixes, execute regression testing, support release validation, and participate in production issue triage.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and QA teams within Agile/Scrum delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4–6 years of hands-on software QA experience, primarily in manual testing.
- Strong experience with Web and Mobile Application Testing.
- Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, Defect Lifecycle, Agile/Scrum, and Release Testing.
- Strong test-design knowledge:
- Boundary Value Analysis
- Equivalence Partitioning
- Decision Tables
- State Transition Testing
- Risk-Based Testing
- Experience with functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, E2E, exploratory, and compatibility testing.
- Hands-on experience with Jira or similar defect/test management tools.
- Strong REST API testing experience using Postman/Swagger.
- Basic SQL knowledge including SELECT, filters, joins, and data/state validation.
- Ability to analyze UI, API, database, configuration, and environment-related issues using logs and developer tools.
- Excellent communication, ownership, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Basic Coding Requirement
This is a manual-first QA role, but candidates should have basic programming knowledge in at least one language:
Java / JavaScript / TypeScript / Python
Candidates should understand:
- Variables and data types
- If/else conditions
- Loops
- Arrays/lists
- Strings
- Functions/methods
- Reading and understanding simple code snippets
- Solving basic programming logic problems
Good to Have
- Experience with enterprise, workflow-driven, regulated, or sensitive-data applications.
- Exposure to Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or other automation tools.
- Basic Git and CI/CD knowledge.
- Experience with BrowserStack or LambdaTest.
- Awareness of Performance, Security, Accessibility, and Privacy testing considerations.
- Experience with UAT, Production Verification, Root-Cause Analysis, or Release Sign-off.
