JOB DESCRIPTION : ENGINEER – QUALITY | SUPPLIER QUALITY / INCOMING QUALITY

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and quality-focused Engineer – Quality with strong hands-on experience in Supplier Quality Management and Incoming Quality. The primary responsibility will be to control, develop, audit, and improve supplier quality performance and ensure that incoming materials and components meet approved specifications, drawings, standards, and control plans.
Key Responsibilities – Core Focus Areas
· Supplier Control & Development – Monitor supplier quality performance, identify recurring quality issues, drive corrective actions, and support supplier development and continuous improvement.
· Supplier PPAP – Manage and review supplier PPAP submissions, verify required documentation and approval status, and ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.
· Supplier Audits – Plan and support supplier process, product, and quality-system audits; identify gaps; drive corrective actions; and monitor timely closure.
· Standard Room / Metrology Knowledge – Must have practical knowledge of handling and coordinating standard-room activities, including CMM, VMS, and other precision inspection and measurement instruments.
Additional Key Responsibilities
· Inspect incoming materials and components as per approved specifications, engineering drawings, inspection standards, and control plans.
· Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using appropriate measuring instruments and inspection methods.
· Verify supplier documents including COA, test reports, inspection reports, PPAP records, and other quality documentation.
· Ensure proper identification, traceability, and status control of incoming materials.
· Segregate, identify, and control non-conforming materials to prevent unintended use.
· Raise supplier quality concerns and initiate SCAR / corrective actions wherever required.
· Follow up with suppliers for corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure.
· Monitor supplier PPM, rejection trends, defect rates, and other supplier quality KPIs.
· Coordinate with Suppliers, Purchase, Stores, Production, and Internal Quality teams for resolution of quality issues.
· Support root-cause analysis, 8D, CAPA, 7 QC Tools, and preventive actions for recurring defects.
· Contribute to reduction of incoming rejection, supplier defects, and PPM through structured supplier improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
· Strong experience in Supplier Quality / Incoming Quality, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
· Hands-on experience in Supplier Control, Supplier Development, Supplier PPAP, and Supplier Audits.
· Practical knowledge of CMM, VMS, and other precision measuring and inspection instruments.
· Good knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, control plans, and inspection standards.
· Knowledge of dimensional inspection equipment such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Gauges, and related instruments.
· Knowledge of 7 QC Tools, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, 8D, and structured problem-solving techniques.
· Good documentation, analytical, communication, coordination, and supplier-management skills.
· Working knowledge of MS Office / Excel for quality reporting and data analysis.
Qualification & Experience
· Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Relevant experience in Supplier Quality / Incoming Quality / Quality Inspection.
· Experience in automotive components or manufacturing supplier quality management will be preferred.
· Candidates with strong hands-on exposure to Supplier PPAP, Supplier Audits, Supplier Development, and Standard Room / Metrology activities will be preferred.
