About (DDIA)
DDIA is responsible for all the Digital requirements of the IIT Kanpur such as planning, purchasing, executing, support-providing and maintaining all the digital assets and services including the cybersecurity, telephone exchange, Internet Services, etc.
Role Summary
The successful candidate is expected to support the Dean, Digital Infrastructure and Automation (DDIA) in maintenance and acquiring the HPC systems at IIT Kanpur.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be the single point contact for all the HPC users for any support. Researchers will be given technical support for porting their applications on the HPC system. Candidate will conduct/coordinate training programs on HPC systems/related software for the users. The candidate will be responsibility on infrastructure upgrade and for acquiring new HPC facilities, Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) and software.
Detailed Responsibilities
The DDIA office maintains three HPC systems at CC (Computer Centre) and about 400+ HPC users from IIT Kanpur are accessing these facilities. The HPC users are from diverse areas of science and engineering. The HPC users require technical help in installation of software and effectively use the HPC facility for their research. One of the HPC systems is a national facility maintained by IIT Kanpur with users across the country. The HPC system requires a technically qualified and experienced person who can maintain the facility regularly and be involved in continuous monitoring. The Institute requires an experienced person who can manage account management, and job queuing. The institute is also upgrading a new data centre and acquiring new HPC facilities. To facilitate these activities, DDIA office requires a person who has previous experience in maintenance and in administrating HPC.
Desired Qualifications
Minimum Education Qualification:
a) B.Tech or B.S. with 8 years of relevant experience
OR
b) MTech or MSc in Engineering/ Sciences + 6 years of relevant experience
OR
c) Ph.D. in Engineering/ Sciences + 3 years of relevance experience
Desired Experience:
The desired experience for the candidate includes (but is not limited to) the following areas:
a) Knowledge in High Performance Computing (HPC) systems, and experience in maintenance of HPC systems
b) Previous experience in interacting with HPC users on day-to-day basis
c) Experience in assisting HPC research in an academic/research institute
d) Experience in the upgradation of HPC hardware and software
e) Good knowledge in the Linux operating systems, compilers, parallel computing, scripting, programming, and software installations
f) Good communication skills
Pay: From ₹60,000.00 per month
