Job Summary
An experienced Cinema Operator is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of movie screenings, ensuring high-quality audio-visual presentation and excellent customer experience. This role involves operating projection systems, maintaining equipment, and troubleshooting technical issues during screenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor digital cinema projection systems (e.g., Digital Cinema Package playback).
- Ensure correct scheduling and timely start/end of movie screenings.
- Perform routine checks on audio, video, and lighting systems before each show.
- Handle ingestion and management of movie content and trailers.
- Troubleshoot technical issues such as sound distortion, projection errors, or system failures.
- Maintain and clean projection equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with management and technical teams for maintenance and upgrades.
- Follow safety protocols and cinema operating standards.
- Assist in emergency situations (e.g., power failure, evacuation procedures).
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cinema operator or projectionist.
- Strong knowledge of digital projection systems (e.g., Barco digital cinema projector, Christie digital cinema projector).
- Familiarity with cinema server software (e.g., Dolby IMS).
- Basic understanding of audio systems and surround sound formats.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Education & Experience
- Diploma or certification in electronics, media technology, or related field (preferred).
- 2–5+ years of experience in cinema operations or projection handling.
Work Environment
- Indoor cinema/multiplex environment.
- Requires standing for extended periods and handling technical equipment.
- May involve late-night and weekend shifts.
